Deepwater Deployment System
One of the main limitation
for small multipurpose
vessels to successfully carry
out deepwater operations
lies on the Safe Working
Load of its handling system.
The handling systems on most vessels suspend the loads at significant height
creating stability problems and greatly reducing
the operability envelope and
capability of such systems.
To overcome this limitation, Geoprober developed a deepwater deployment system named the Subsea Reverse Derrick, which also improves the stability of the vessel because the heavy loads are suspended and handled below the keel, lowering its centre of gravity.

The complete system consists of two structures(the Tensioning System and the Tension Frame) coupled by means of an eight fall rope system with an intermediate keel moonpool rope management system (Leader Frame).
- The Tensioning System is a portable engineered solution implemented at the main deck of the vessel around the moonpool area. It provides active/passive heave compensation for the Tension Frame.
- The Leader Frame travels inside the moonpool and locks at the keel of the vessel. It provides protection and acts as a guide for all the ropes.
- The Tension Frame is the subsea load bearing structure that can be positioned below the keel and is coupled to the tensioning system. Different packages may be deployed through it or safely secured inside.
